Frequently Asked Questions
What sets Calmer apart from other workplace wellbeing providers?
We are a burnout prevention training organisation. We deliver complex information on the neuroscience of stress and burnout, mental wellbeing and resilience, and make it easy for participants to understand.
All our material is drawn from evidence based, psychological research, and our teaching style blends theory, experiential learning with practical takeaways, and a facilitated space for group discussion. We empower our participants to look beyond mental health crisis/short term support, to the medium and longer term strategy of nurturing a consistent culture of mental wellness at work.
Each of our qualified trainers also have lived experience of mental health struggles and burnout recovery, and therefore the ability to educate from both a personal and professional standpoint.
There is a strong business case for investing in mental health provisions in the workplace; read our founder Tania Diggory’s article for Medical News Today about letting go of outdated perceptions of mental health and how to improve access to workplace wellbeing.
What is burnout?
Burnout is a state that comes with long-term, unresolved stress that can negatively affect your work and your life in general.
We specialise in education for professionals on the complexity of burnout and how to prevent it. In our highest performing blog, The 5 Stages of burnout, we’ve highlighted these key stages to help you understand how stress escalates to burnout, how it manifests in different ways, and how you can prevent it from disrupting your life.
How do I book a Calmer masterclass, workplace training course or long-term wellbeing programme?
We’d love to support you and your organisation to nurture a mentally healthy culture at work.
Please get in touch to book a no-obligation call with one of our team to discuss your needs, and explore how we can best support you and your colleagues.
How long does it take to complete a Calmer training experience?
Our Masterclasses are delivered as 60 or 90 minute sessions.
Our half day training courses are 3 hours, and our full day training courses are 6 hours, with time allocated for breaks and Q&A.
When delivered remotely, we split our full day training into two 3-hour sessions over the course of 1-2 weeks, in order to manage screen time.
Do I get a qualification at the end of the course? Is it CPD accredited?
As highlighted on our website, our four full day and half day training courses are currently in the process of being CPD Accredited, to be confirmed by mid-2023.
Certificates will be issued upon completion of each course to everyone who attends our signature training courses, and will gain CPD points towards their continued learning and professional development.
We have trained Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) in the workplace already, does this align with what Calmer can offer?
Absolutely, we love to learn of any mental health provisions or plans that may already be in place in your organisation, and our training programmes and consultancy can serve to amplify the great work you’re already building.
With regards to MHFA training specifically, our Wellbeing Champions programme compliments the ethos of MHFA by training first aiders to take their knowledge to the next level, and learn how to implement a long-term mental health strategy and policy for their workplace. Our training offers an applied approach to workplace mental health, ensuring the first aiders feel clear about the boundaries associated with being a Champion; what the role is, and what it isn’t.
We want to support our teams with long term access to mental health provisions, how does Calmer support this?
Alongside our suite of training courses, we offer a 6-month plus Wellbeing Champions programme where we work with you to identify and qualify a group of suitable employee volunteers who are passionate about becoming Wellbeing Champions at your organisation. Our CPD accredited training and regular consultancy empowers the Champions to develop and implement a long term mental health strategy and policy for your organisation.
There is no prerequisite for the volunteers to be Mental Health First Aid trained, as our programme equips them with all the information they need to know for this role. MHFA training can serve to complement their knowledge, and we can deliver this at an additional cost if requested.

Can I access a recording of a Calmer session?
Training course: Due to the sensitive nature of our courses and to ensure a safe, confidential facilitated space, we do not record our virtual or live full or half day training courses. However, after completing our 3-hour or 6-hour training, you will receive a key takeaways document highlighting an overview of the course content.
Masterclass: Our 60-90 minute masterclasses are recorded in webinar format, and we provide a 48-hour recording link following the delivery of the masterclass for anyone who isn’t able to attend the live presentation. When requested, our recordings can remain live for up to one month at an additional cost.
I have accessibility needs, will these be accommodated in your sessions?
Our masterclasses, courses and workshops are primarily delivered virtually, unless requested in-person. Either way, we endeavour to ensure our services are accessible for all, please get in touch with us ahead of the session you’re attending to inform us of any specific requirements.
Please note that while we always endeavour to check on any accessibility requirements ahead of in-person training for employees, this service is often provided on client company premises where employee accessibility needs have already been considered.
What are your training costs?
The costs for our programmes are bespoke, depending on the level of service required by our clients.
We work closely with our clients to create the best package for them, and our training prices start from £850 + VAT.
Please note that in-person training will incur additional costs to cover any travel and accommodation expenses.
Is the cost the same for virtual or in-person training?
Yes our costs remain the same; the participants receive the same level of value and takeaways from the session, whether it's delivered virtually or in-person. We offer a blended learning experience of theory, practical exercises and group discussions which can be delivered in person or online - i.e. group discussion can be facilitated in physical rooms or through virtual breakout rooms.
Do you run public events?
Yes, alongside our business-specific training and workplace programme bookings, we deliver free virtual events throughout the year, in alignment with key mental health awareness dates. Our events focus on a range of mental wellbeing insights, tips and guidance, and you can watch one of our previously recorded online events here: How to make mental health a priority at work.
We also collaborate with world-renowned speakers and specialists in the field of mental health, resilience and business development, at times delivered as live events. If you’d like to enquire about an event collaboration, please get in touch.
